Vesica Piscis

The Vesica piscis is a shape which is the intersection of two circles with the same radius, intersecting in such a way that the center of each circle lies on the circumference of the other. The name literally means the "bladder of a fish" in Latin. The shape is also called mandorla ("almond" in Italian).- Wikipedia

I’ve been seeing this sacred geometrical configuration a lot recently in my travels. Here are some examples as to where I can find it or where I saw it:

I can open my wallet, pull out my credit card, look for the mastercard logo, and voila…there it is. The mastercard logo is incredibly interesting because it utilizes the solar colors of alchemy. One circle is emblematic of the rubedo stage, or reddening stage. One circle is emblematic of the citrinitas stage, or yellowing stage. The overlap must represent something truly special, alchemically speaking. Possibly even the Philosopher’s Stone itself.

I can also go to Bootlegger in the St. Vital mall to see the vesica piscis. The two Os in the glowing blue sign overlap. Who would have thought that a chic jeans store would embody such sacredness in its logo? Not me.

Last weekend, I went to Ben’s and Rob’s fascinating art studio on Albert street. Rob is currently working on a drawing that incorporates the vesica piscis, black spheres, and even Dave’s silly visage.

When I woke up this morning and looked at my Paul Laffoley poster—Thanaton 111—I noticed that he utilized venn diagrams or multiple vesica piscis-like configurations. The venn diagrams are located near the central area of the poster. They are located near a UFO, two hands, and an all-seeing eye. Laffoley emphatically states that the painting (Thanaton 111) is alive. It can be used for extraterrestrial communication. Laffoley says this type of communication is possible when you stare into the eye, place your hands on the painted hands, clear your mind, and wait for psionic information to travel to you with the help of the divine proportion.

This next example isn’t really directly related to the shape of the vesica piscis, but I found the experience interesting nonetheless. I was walking down Arden Avenue near my Dad’s condo, and I noticed that my name was etched into the concrete. “DARYL.” To the right of my name, I saw a heart shape that was connected to the Star of David. The heart is obviously symbolic of love, empathy, universality, and life itself. The Star of David is emblematic of a sacred marriage between two opposing forces. One force represents the ascent of fire, and the other force represents the descent of water. The marriage creates a third force, a force that indelibly reconciles the opposing wills of these forces.

I am going to obviously list more examples in the future, because I have a feeling I will be seeing a lot of this sacred geometrical configuration. For now, these examples will have to suffice.
