“Everything sheds time in a steady emission that swells out of every atom, every leaf, every human being—even out of empty space. That’s why the old pine, with its evergreen halo of sun-soaked needles, seems beyond time. It, and me, and all of us, are soaked in Chronos.”- Christopher Dewdney
“Time is a game played beautifully by children.”- Heraclitus
September 11 just passed on Friday. The day marked the eight-year anniversary of the vicious attacks on the World Trade Center. On September 11th, 2001, the day was a Tuesday. Astrologically speaking, Tuesday is ruled by Mars, the imperious, war-mongering cosmological entity. On the other hand, Friday is dominated by the cosmic influence of Venus. She is the splendorous, sanctified, and bejeweled love-maker. The eight-year gap between the dates is ruled by Saturn, the guardian of the threshold. This cosmic and calendrical connection stands for something profound. As above, so below. As below, so above. Hermes. Chronos. Hermes. Chronos. In layman’s terms, we’re undergoing a worldwide psychic shift right now. We’re entering a new world age.
In Richard Tarnas’ book, “Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New Worldview,” Saturn is depicted as a force or principle that rules “limit, structure, contraction, constraint, necessity, hard materiality, concrete manifestation”. This means Saturn is a cosmological power that precipitates or materializes all that which is inhibiting, alienating, and self-depriving. But there is a catch here. Saturn can act as a swinging door; one direction leads to humdrum, opaque manifestation with all its hang-ups, rules and regulations, while the other direction leads to incorporeal vistas that reach beyond the pale of manifestation, time, and the obstacles of egoity. We as a species have a choice in which direction we want to take. We’ve always had volition in such matters. Total volition.
The Mars, Venus, and Saturn synchro-connection is interesting in a plethora of ways, but is probably best to focus on one. If we take these alchemical planets and relate them to eastern metaphysics, we naturally get the three-part kundalini energy spiral. Mars relates to the pingala, or masculine energy force. Venus relates to the ida, or feminine energy force. Saturn relates to the sushumna, or the indestructible central channel that extends from the chthonic depths of manifestation to the lofty heights of the empyrean. This ultimately means that the conjunction of these three planets could foreshadow the awakening of the global kundalini current. This kundalini current would usher in the next world age. “Ride the snake,” as Jim Morrison once said.
It goes without saying that we’re entering some volatile waters at this point in history. Political battles and fiats, economic meltdowns and catastrophes, and third chakra imbalances are all vying for our attention. Mental sicknesses are spreading like wild conflagrations over dry, passive thickets. But I know we can make it through to the other side. The True Artist just has to arise in us, and then the tides could turn. Armageddon is a nightmare we can curtail, avert, and divert.
Knock on wood. Knock on time’s door and politely ask, “Can I go beyond you?”
