The Sound of One Hand Clapping
The sound of one hand clapping is reality itself. The sound of two hands clapping creates an enormous din, the applause of delusion. If everybody on the planet were to clap with their two hands all at once, the world would be filled, stuffed, inundated, and walloped with a vicious, annoying sound. If everybody on the planet were to clap with just one hand, the people of the world would immediately recognize Big Mind in everything. And yet we still continue to clap with two hands because we genuinely believe we have to make an impact, or we have to be heard. Foolishness. There only needs to be one hand clapping, because there is only one eye watching this one hand. The eye, the sole eye, is wisdom itself, and the one hand I speak of is wisdom-in-action, the ever-evolving art-spirit. Two hands are not needed. Leave one at the gateless gate if you have to, give one to cerberus as a chew toy, or even give it to a shadow puppet master. It doesn't matter. It just isn't needed. Only one hand is needed to complete the Great Work.
