"Atlas Dei" By Robert Rich and Daniel Colvin

"Atlas Dei" is a visual and aural journey through the terra incognito and terra firma of planetary and cosmic history. Daniel Colvin festoons the DVD with digital landscapes and sacral images. Robert Rich, an ambient music pioneer, aurally adorns the DVD with mystical drones and tones which preternaturally compliment Colvin's artistic vision. What I love about this DVD is the scope of its shared vision and the top-notch resolution of the images and sounds. The video starts off with a florid, transforming vortex of psychedelia. Eventually the vortex shatters like glass to reveal a glowing, opalescent light. From here on out Colvin takes the watcher to landscapes rich in kaleidoscopic reveries. Salient throughout the odyssey is the notion that philosophies, geometries, seasons, and galaxies are innately connected through the process of cyclical time and the hermetic axiom, "as above, so below." If Carl Gustav Jung was still alive and well-edified in th realm of digital technology, this would be his gift to the world. A phenomenal artistic statement with an even more phenomenal mystical vision.
