Hold On...The World Is An Illusion?

"When one sees the world, one does not see oneself. When one sees the Self, the world is not seen."- Ramana Maharshi

The world is seemingly a concrete thing or entity that can be described by varying degrees of gross or subtle perception. Saying "I see the ocean" would be an example of a gross perception. Saying "I see the ocean as a vast network of unfathomable treasures and delights" is an example of a subtle perception. Saying "I see the ocean as not the ocean as such, but rather as the indivisible essence of the eternal" would imply an even subtler perception. These perceptions can be intensely magnified or turn out to be quite hollow and meaningless, but the point is this: each perception is based off an assumption that we're describing something somewhat concrete. But we aren't actually describing something that is concrete. This is the point. We are describing the world through a mind composed of fluxing ideas and slippery words. Vacillating thoughts, bubbling emotions, and quicksilver dreams...these create the seismic activity of a mind that is never in a stasis or a vacuum. So to assume that the world is a concrete thing or entity would be entirely false. This is why the world as a mental construct is nothing but an illusion perpetuated by a mind always caught in the rapids. The unavoidable reconciliation between the mind and the world is reached when both are dropped altogether.
