M-O-N-D-A-Y

Periodically, I open up Heraclitus’ “Fragments,” read a passage or two, contemplate the wise advice given, close the book, and then get on with the day or night, whatever comes first. Just now I randomly opened the book to page 33. This is what I found:

“Under the comb
the tangle and the straight path
are the same.”

This statement seems to be accurate. The comb is apathetic to the textural condition of the hair. It doesn’t really have a judging faculty at its disposal. We, as mammals with advanced cognitive abilities, ascribe judgments to the hair as we comb it. The comb does not ascribe judgments. It is an inanimate object. With this being said, I rarely comb my hair. I just use my hands. I wonder if Heraclitus used a comb? He probably had nice, curly hair, but no shampoo. Someone should go back in a time machine and give him some shampoo.

Random page. Number 63.

“The language of a grown man,
to the cosmic powers,
sounds like babytalk to men.”

This sounds accurate as well. Our everyday prattle must sound like gibberish to Jupiter and psychobabble to Venus. The cosmic powers probably think we have constructed a moronic, inferior language. After all, we did name one of the planets, “Uranus”. Heraclitus also stumbled upon something pretty profound here: mimicry. The baby imitates the language of the father figure or mother figure, but the mother figure and the father figure cannot decipher the imitation. The grown man or woman imitates the language of the cosmos through song or poem, but the cosmos cannot decipher the language of the song or poem. The imitation is too crude and unrefined to be heard properly by the higher intelligence involved. So this is why Neptune doesn’t respond to my prayers. Makes sense.

In other news, I am cooking some ayahuasca right now. I got 250 grams of the yellow caapi vine and 250 grams of chacruna (psychotria viridis) going into the brew. This brew is going to take about 6-7 days to prepare. I am getting kind of lightheaded on the fumes that are rising from the boiling pot. This is probably a good sign.

Just finished reading “Dr. Futurity” by Philip K. Dick, and I am now reading a Jose Arguelles biography.

Transmission over.
