A Strand of Hair, A Parable, and the Return of the Vesica Piscis

The world is not a static entity orbiting a big ball of thermal gas in a universe of happenstance. As has been reiterated time and time again on this blog, the world is a pattern, a process, a transducer of cosmic energy-waves, and excessively alive. Within the patterned-world, there are micro-patterns which are reflections and echoes of a larger process. These micro-patterns govern both the exogenous realm of matter and the endogenous realm of psyche. At subtle levels of rarefaction, these micro-patterns stitch together the realms—the in and out—and make interconnectivity the name of the game. We all play the game no matter what. Better yet, we’re all embedded in the game. Not as hapless chattel, but rather as mystic warriors.

The Distillation of these ruminations:

Yesterday evening I found one of Ashley’s hairs in my bathroom sink. The brown and curly hair looked, well, nonchalant (like all hairs do when they’re separated from the “hair forest” on the head). On closer inspection, the nonchalant hair seemed “Vesica Piscis-esque”. This obviously piqued my interest. On even closer inspection, the aloof strand of Ashley’s hair resembled a geometrical VP configuration alluded to in one of Jesus’ parables. The parable talks of fish. 153 of them to be exact.

Fish=Water=Bathroom=My mind seeking patterns for pleasure. I assure you, no greater pleasure exists.

Anyways…

The 153 fish parable is all about the Heavenly City of Jerusalem, which is a fancy way of saying the cosmic pattern we’re all embedded in. A key number in this parable is 1224, the earth’s diameter in miles. In the off-kilter dialect of gematria, 1224 is wedded to the idea of “paradise on earth”. The VP-esque configuration I saw with the help of Ashley’s hair is the boat St. Peter and his disciples go fishing in in the parable. More specifically, Jesus rises from the tomb in the parable and assists the men in catching a spate of fish. Way to go Jesus!

When we do the arithmetic (something I am wholly abominable at), 153 fishes x 8 boatmen/disciples equals the magical number of 1224, or the earth’s diameter in miles, or the moon’s diameter x 2.

In the words of John Michell:

“The story of the 153 fishes provides a glimpse into the sacred code of geometry and number that was taught in the Mystery schools and adapted to the Christian myth by those who formulated the new religion.”

Now I will quote Ashley on how her hair and the net are interrelated:

“Hair can become entangled and ensnared, and the same thing can happen to fishes in a net.”

The world is a puzzling pattern, and brown hair in the bathroom sink is only but one of its many mysterious visual conundrums.
