Watched "Tron: Legacy" last night. Conceptually an infallible idea. On the big screen it failed to realize the potential of the supreme concept. I enjoyed the digital world of light-towers, the grid, and games which led to the de-resolution of cyberspatial automata. Zeus, the character that resembled Ziggy Stardust, was interesting for a time. Jeff Bridges (aka an Alan Watts-like character who practiced zen) had some humorous lines. Overall, however, the movie lacked some elements that are difficult to pin down. Something to do with the script possibly. I think it lacked a philosophical element too. It was too Disney for my liking. Watered down. Prosaic. Safe.
Reading Alan Watts. A collection of talks given throughout his career on such topics as Mahayana Buddhism, Zen, Morality, the difference between the Occidental "God-image" and the Eastern one. Watts was quite the speaker. He had a treasure trove of analogies, myths, truths, and anecdotes in that brain of his. I love his writings too.
Packing it in for the evening. I should take my dreamtime spagyric formula and see where that takes me. The oneiric. The digital sea of dreams for the skin-encapsulated android-ego. No. Wait. I am not a robot. Silly me.

Laryngitis. That hoarse voice that cracks before the sentence is over and done with. Swollen vocal cords. Whispers utilized.
Maybe this is not such a bad thing. Talking is overrated. The world is polluted with talk. Small talk. Big talk. Pretentious talk. All that. Silence is relegated to a small island in a world of chit-chatter, noise, screams, and more noise. But it shouldn't. Silence should take the throne.
Still reading Watts. I like his analogies. Especially the one about seeing the cat through the fence. We assume the head causes the tail when we see the cat through the fence because the tail dutifully follows the head. But this is fence-vision. "Put together bits of vision to make a whole vision," says the man watching life through a fence. In reality, the head doesn't cause the tail. Both arise simultaneously. Mutual arising.
Bitter outside. Cold. The tundra is migrating south. Global warming would cause this. If the universe is contracting and expanding at the same time, global warming is happening at the same time as global cooling. This is my postulation.
I love the masks I have hanging up in my apartment.

So I bought a box of fortune cookies, removed the generalized fortunes, and inserted new ones. New fortunes such as:
"Wonder is the key that opens all the locks."
"The absurd shall oust the rational."
Wonder is the master key, and the absurd is the warrior who wields a hammer of ludicrousness. These are important things to remember as the year reaches its end. If we're too locked up in the prison of the rational, we begin to think of ourselves as slavish followers of the calendrical and customary. We actually begin to believe in the dawn of the new year. But there is no true "new year", just like there are no tomorrows. Everything is already free from the priestly conception of linear time. Everything is a timeless dance of molecules, and minds, and symphonies of light, and patterns of delight.
Ecstasy is the final condition of matter. Happy now!
