The Ears and Eyes of Heart Consciousness (part one).

The heart plays a very important part in spiritual development. Beyond its role as a physiological pump, the heart acts as a conduit for energies coming from above and below it. The heart chakra--anahata--receives the cerebral energies of the intellect, the visceral energies of the instinct, and tries to make sense of the information by providing the human soul with a "non-judgmental" and "non-reflexive" space in which to inspect such energies. In this sense, the heart acts as the epicenter, the nexus-point, of the ascension and descension of consciousness. This is why the development of the ears and eyes of the heart is important: one needs to see and hear the energy streams in order to properly interpret them.
